 the government of a state in the United States 

 州政府  
州政府 (State Government) 及联邦政府 (Federal Government) 于政策上为官立学校于财政、设定标准及其他事项方面提供支援。 

而US government指美国政府，代表全美国，所以state government隶属于US governament，即
state government 是US governament的下级组织。

要是指在美国范围内的话  state goverment 指州政府    us goverment指 美国中央政府
不是在美国范围的话。state goverment指国家政府
