不是instead+of的用法，只是单单instead出现在句子中的含义？

instead是“代替”的意思
but表示转折，“但是”
although是“虽然，即使”的意思
instead有两个用法。
一是后面跟of.
instead of something。
二是instead作为句子的结尾。
例句：
1. 作为替代
He is too busy, let me go instead.
他太忙了,让我去吧。
2. 反而,却
Instead of disturbing her, the news had a strangely calming effect.
这消息非但没有令她不安,反而产生了一种奇怪的镇定效果。
He didn't give John the money, but he gave it to me instead.
他没把钱给约翰,却给了我。

能，转折的时候意思就是“反而”的意思，这句话是虽然他很想……却还是……了。就是一个转折的句子阿。

instead有出乎意料的感觉在里面啊，一般是有出乎意料的感情在前后句子里面。表示反而……，却……。
但是but，一般只用在单纯转折的。
although就更容易分辨了，前后句子必然需要“虽然但是”的因果关系在里面。
如果上个句子中如果用although，也是可以说得通，但是意思就有所改变了，虽然【即使】他……了，可是他还是想逃离她身边。

(1) 一般意义上的“转折”：but, however, nevertheless(nonetheless), though(2) 表示“对比”含义的“转折”： ① while, whereas ② by(in) contrast, on the other hand, in comparison, conversely(3) 表示“相反”含义的“转折”：on the contrary, instead以上的短语或词都是副词性的，表示含有“相反”的转折。其用法应该是：A句. 常常用法 instead of + doing
I play soccer instead of playing computer games。
我踢足球而不是玩电脑游戏。
but 但是，
I like soccer，but I can’t play soccer。
我喜欢足球，但是我不会踢足球。
but放在句中。
although 即使，虽然
Although he is old，he never stop studying。
虽然他很老了，但他从不停止学习。
*注意：although不能与but一起用，一个句子里不能同时出现although和but，虽然中文里这样可以，但是英语不行。
